A month ago today, SMS was delighted to welcome Jake Neal as a new trainee to the team. A month in, Jake has already firmly established himself in the SMS Electrical Team, working as Junior Electrical Engineer.
Originally from Kent, Jake was working in & around London for Beck & Pollitzer as Junior Control Systems Engineer, specialising in Control and Safety systems in rail and marine environments for companies such as Crossrail and Hitachi. From there he moved to Great Yarmouth earlier this year and – in his own words – the position at SMS posed a perfect opportunity to further his career.
Upon joining the company, Jake was assigned to several projects that are currently in progress, supporting the electrical team with client comment updates. As he is learning more about SMS, the HPUs and systems, he has also taken on the electrical work for a Wellhead Control extension panel.
At SMS, we recognise the importance of people to the success of any operation, which is why we are actively trying to attract and retain the best talent. Apprenticeships, along with our graduate scheme, allow us to foster talented individuals, and fully immerse them into the company at an early stage in their career. Our goal is to provide them with an environment of growth and development, and are looking forward to seeing the starters of today become the leaders of tomorrow.
